——"sweet tooth"可
不是“甜甜的牙齿”哦！
我们都知道tooth是“牙齿”，
在英语中有很多与tooth相关的英文表达，
但是其真正的含义却与牙齿没有必然的关系。
“sweet tooth”是什么意思？
sweet tooth
难道其意思是：“甜甜的牙齿”吗？或者是因为吃了甜食，而导致牙齿成为了蛀牙？
都不对哦，“蛀牙”的英语表达是decayed tooth或者rotten tooth，跟sweet可是一点关系都没有。
其实sweet tooth的意思是：“ 爱吃甜食的嗜好”。
举个例子：
He has a swww.58yuanyou.comweet tooth.
他爱吃甜食。
I have the biggest sweet tooth in my family.
我是全家最爱吃甜食的人。
“a tooth for a tooth”是什么意思？
a tooth for a tooth
在中文里这句话翻译为“以牙还牙”，
“以牙还牙”除了“a tooth for a tooth”，
也可以说“An eye for an eye”，
举个例子：
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
以眼还眼，以牙还牙。
“armed to theeth”是什么意思？
armed to the teeth
有点类似的习语“at daggers drawn”，
表示为了做某件事情做好了充分、全面的准备，但是在使用的时候，千万别翻译成武装到牙齿，可以意为“全副武装”。
举个例子：
They werewww.58yuanyou.com armed to the teeth，and looked merciless.
他们全副武装，看上去冷酷无情。
“fight tooth and nail”是什么意思？
Fight tooth and nail
其实是“fight with teeth and nails”这个习惯用语的简写形式。
在这个短语中我们一定认识“tooth、nail”,分别是牙www.58yuanyou.com齿和指甲的意思。
带入到特定场景中，如果打架又用到牙齿又用到指甲，那真可谓是拼尽全力的一场“恶斗”啦。
所以“Fight tooth and nail”就是“ 全力以赴、奋力拼搏”的意思，
这个习惯用语往往用来说在势单力薄的情况下竭尽全力拼命奋战。
例句：
There is another election coming on next fall, and he knows we are going to fight tooth and nail。
明年秋天另一次大选就要来到了，他知道我们要为此全力以原由网赴。
与“fight”相关的词组有很多，比如说这些：
fight it out 据理力争；一决雌雄
fight fire with fire 以火攻火；以毒攻毒
fight shy of 回避，躲避；避免与…正面接触
fight for one's life 病危
