【出处】
出自《战国策楚策一》：
虎求百兽而食之。得狐。
狐曰：“子无敢食我也。天帝使我长百兽，今子食我，是逆天帝命也。子以我为不信，吾为子先行，子随我后，观百兽之见我而敢不走乎？”
虎以为然，故遂与之行。兽见之皆走。虎不知兽畏己而走也，以为畏狐也。
今译：
一只老虎寻觅百兽作为食物。它抓住了一只狐狸。
狐狸说：“你不敢吞掉我。天帝已经命令我为百兽的首领，现在你要吃了我，是违反天帝的命令。你认为我是不可信的，那么我走在你的前面，你跟随在我的后面，看百兽看www.58yuanyou.com见我而有敢于不逃跑的吗？”
老虎信以为真，于是就跟在狐狸后面与他一起行走。百兽看见//www.58yuanyou.com它们都跑掉了。老虎不知道百兽是惧怕自己才逃跑的，以为是惧怕狐狸呢。
英译：
A tiger caught a fox while looking for any beast that might come his way and fall a prey to him.
