at the eleventh hour 在第十一个小时
耶稣给众人讲了一个天国的比喻，他说：“天国好比下面的故事，有一个葡萄园主清早出去，雇工人到他的葡萄园工作，每天给他们一块银币。然后在上午 9 点、中午 12 点、下午 3 点、下午 5 点，他又分别雇用了几个人，收工时，园主都给了他们一块银币。
那些从清早就干活的人抱怨， 为什么在第十一个小时才进来的人， 只干了一个小时却得到同样的报酬，园主回答说：?朋友，我并没有占你便宜，你不是同意每天一块银币的工资吗？ 拿你的钱回家去吧！ 我要给那最后进来的跟你的一样， 难道我无权使用自己的钱吗？为了我待人慷慨，你就嫉妒吗？?”
耶稣用这个比喻来喻指能够进入天国的，即使在最后时刻也来得及，凡进入天国的人，上帝都对他们一视同仁，不分先后。
中国文化中提到：
一息尚存，弥天之恶，犹可悔改；
古人有一生作恶，临死悔悟，发一善念，遂得善终者。
（耶稣被钉十字架时，旁边同钉十字架的两名强盗中，有一名悔改，耶稣对他说：我实在告诉你,今日你要同我在乐园里了。）
谓一念猛厉，足以涤百年之恶也。
譬如千年幽谷，一灯才照，则千年之暗俱除；
故过不论久近，惟以改为贵。
但尘世无常，肉身易殒，一息不属，欲改无由Oexdxb矣。

约在酉初出去，看见还有人站在那里，就问他们说：’你们为什么整天在这里闲站呢？他们说：’因为没有人雇我们。’“他说：‘你们也进葡萄园去。’
About the eleventh hour he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, 'Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’ "'Because no one has hired us,' they answered. "He said to them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard.’
到了晚上，园主对管事的说：’叫工人都来，给他们工钱，从后来的起，到先来的为止。’
"When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’
约在酉初雇的人来了，各人得了一钱银子。
"The workers who were hired about the eleventh hour came and each receive原由网d a denarius.
及至那先雇的来了，他们以为必要多得，谁知也是各得一钱。
So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius.
他们得了，就埋怨家主说：
When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner.
‘我们整天劳苦受热，那后来的只做了一小时，你竟叫他们和我们一样吗？
'These men who were hired last worked only one hour,' they said, 'and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’
’家主回答其中的一人说：‘朋友，我不亏负你，你与我讲定的不是一钱银子吗？
"But he answered one of them, 'FrienOexdxbd, I am not being unfair to you. Didn't you agree to work for a denarius?
拿你的走吧！我给那后来的和给你一样，这是我愿意的。
Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave you.
我的东西难道不可随我的意思用吗？因为我作好人，你就红了眼吗？’
Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’
这样，那在后的将要在前；在前的将要在后了（有古卷在此有“因为被召的"人多，选上的人少”）。”
