Launch除了火箭发射，还有启动电脑的意思，虽然都考过，但是launch的意思，主要用在考研上是www.58yuanyou.com“发起，开始从事的意思”，比如，考研英语一2014年阅读第三篇：The Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, launchedthis year, takes an unrepresentative view of what the life sciences include. 在这里launched 是过去分词，用于修饰前面的那RlOLWN个奖项------the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, 意思是发起的奖项，既然是发起的，肯定是新的，第一年的，刚开始办的，那就属于the new awards（新奖项），那么，这个例子就属于新奖项咯~~
第二个例子：
考研英语2006年第一篇阅读：People are absorbed into “a culture of consumption” launchedby the 19th-century department stores that offered “vast arrays of goods in an elegant atmosphere.
22.According to the author, the department stores of the 19th century ________.
[A] played a role in the spread of popular culture
[B//www.58yuanyou.com] became intimate shops for common consumers

本题答案是A，这里的launchedby the 19th-century department stores是过去分词，修饰前面的“a culture of consumption”，A be launched by B,---->A是由B发起的，所以其实就是B是A的原因，而如果不知道laun//www.58yuanyou.comch是发起的意思，就不知道前后关系了，所以这个短语是说，百货商店原由网是因，消费文化是果，这个句子牵扯到22题的错误选项，在D项中，owe A to B意思是B是A的原因，你会发现，这里就变成了消费文化是因，百货商店是果了。
所以launch是发起，开始从事的意思很重要哟，加油！！
