这些单词只能表示颜色吗？其实不然，就像中文里我们会有“眼红”这样的词语，英文当中也有。
今天小E就来给大家扒一扒英文中的不同颜色！
Red
红糖 brown sugar
红茶 black tea
红榜 honour roll
红豆love pea
红运good luck
红色对我们而言，大多表示喜庆、幸福。但在英语国家的人眼中，绿色和金黄色具有类似的联想意义，而红色则意味着流血、危险或暴力，比如: see red 勃然大怒。
所以英国翻译家 David Hawkes 在翻译《红楼梦》时，将其中的"红原由网"做了这样的处理:
贾宝玉神游大虚境，警幻仙曲演红楼梦。
Jia Baoyu visits the Land of Illusion; and the fairy Disenchantment performs the Dream of Golden Days.
贾宝玉品茶栊翠庵，刘姥姥醉窝怡红院。
Jia Baoyu tastes some superior tea at Green Bowe原由网r Hermitage; and Grannie Liusamples the sleeping accommdation at Green Delights.
Green
绿色在英语中可以表示"嫉妒、眼红"，如: green with envy，greenas jealousy，green-eyed monster 都是指"嫉妒"的意思。
还可以表示无经验、缺乏训练等意思，比如:
She is still green at this job.
她对这件工作还是生疏的。
Yellow
黄色在英文中可以表示"胆小、卑怯、卑鄙"的意思，比如:
He is too yellow to stand up and fight.
他太软弱//www.58yuanyou.com，不敢起来斗争。
Blue
蓝色在英文中常用来喻指人的"情绪低落、心情沮丧"，比如:
She looks blue today. What's the matter with her?
她今天显得闷闷不乐，出了什么事？
She is in holiday blue.
她得了假期忧郁症。
还可以表示"低俗的、下流的"，比如: blue talk 下流言论。
有时又有社会地位高、出身名门的意思，如: blue blood 贵族血统。
