下面是我在2017年11月13日晚上8~10点期间的授课讲义，主题是《史派西演艺生涯或因性侵丑闻终结》（Actor Kevin Spacey Removed from New Mov//www.58yuanyou.comie ）。
第1句：Actor Kevin Spacey is facing more career problems as the number of accusations of sexual wrongdoing against him increase.
随着违法性行为指控数量的增加，演员凯文-史派西正面临更多事业问题。
【讲解】face，动词，意思是面对。career，事业，职业生涯。
学员@张彩：against有点疑惑。van allen答复：against sb 针对某人，accusations against him 针对他的指控。
学员@阿诺：为什么increase不加s？van allen答复：number表达数量做主语，谓语动词increase不加s。
这里的as是做连词用，意思是随着……，属于实用写作词汇。
学员@阿诺：wrongdoing是否可以写为wrong-doing。van allen答复：wrongdoing是一个单词，中间不用加-。
【造句】用 face 造句：我正面临……问题。
学员@阿诺：I am facing financial problems.
学员@张彩：I am facing the problem of no enough time to play with my daughter. van allen 回复修改意见：I am facing the problem of having no enough time to play with my daughter.
学员@简单：I am facing a problem of how to bring up my baby.
学员@姜鲜花：I am face the problem how I can control my desire shopping online tonight. van allen 答复：时态错误。修改建议：I am facing the problem of how to control my desires of shopping online tonight.
【造句】用 as 造句：随着人口的增长，房价越来越高。
学员@XIXI：The restate price becomes higher and higher as the number of the people increase. van allen回复：人口数量用 population，建议改为：House prices are getting higher as the population increases.
学员@庄晓红：She gets more lazy as she gets older.
第2句：Friday, a major movie company said it planned to replace the actor in a film set for release next month.
周五，一家大型电影公司表示，他们计划撤换定于下个月发行的一部电影里的该演员。
【讲解】学习用 major 表达大型。写作时，有时可以用 major 替换 big，large等词，增加表达的丰富性。replace，动词，替换。注意这里的set其实是过去分词被动式，完整表达是 in a film which was set for release next month。
学员@Dimi：为什么plan用了过去式planned，而不是plan？前几天遇到引用特朗普以前说的话巴黎气候协定损害美国经济，Trupm said it hurts American economy，而不是 it hurted。van allen 答复：特朗普说这个协定损害美国经济，不仅针对以前，也针对现在和将来，也就是说，这是一个常态，所用可以用一般现在时。而这里的plan就是过去做出的一个计划，这个计划不会过去计划，现在计划，以后还计划，所以用planned过去式没问题。
【造句】用 major 表达：阿里巴巴是中国的一家大型公司。
学员@姜鲜花：Alibaba is a major company in China.
学员@刘春儿：Alibaba is a major company of China.
学员@阿诺：Alibaba is one of a major companies in China. van allen赞扬：这个造句很严谨。
第3句：Sony Pictures says it will remove Spacey from the film project All the Money in the World.
索尼影业公司表示，他们将会把凯文-史派西从电影项目“金钱世界”里删掉。
【讲解】remove A from B 把A从B中移除
【造句】用 remove 造句：一位家长被老师从聊天群里踢了出去。
学员@防纺：A parent was removed from wechat. van allen回复：from wechat 说不通，改为 the chat group 比较好。
学员@刘春儿：A parent was removed from the chat group by the teacher.
第4句：It says it will re-shoot his parts with Academy Award winning actor Christopher Plummer.
他们表示将启用奥斯卡获奖演员克里斯托弗-普卢默重拍他的戏份。
【讲解】shoot这是不是射击，是动词，拍摄的意思。re-是构词前缀，表达重新、再次的含义。shoot/re-shoot sb/sth with sb 用谁来拍摄/重拍什么。
【造句】高晓松导演决定用马云来重拍孙悟空。
学员@阿诺：Gao Xiaosong who is a director made a decision to shoot Sun Wukong's part with Mayun. van allen回复： part用复数parts。Gao Xiaosong who is a director 简单改为 Director Gao Xiaosong 就好。
第5句：Movie director Ridley Scott is working quickly to make the changes to the film in order to meet the planned release date of December 22.
电影导演雷德利-斯科特正在快马加鞭调整这部电影，以便赶上原计划的发行日期，12月22日。
【讲解】work to do sth 致力于做什么。in order to do 固定搭配，为了做什么。meet 如期达到，如期完成。
【造句】working quickly to do sth
学员@韩素辉：The Xiecheng kindergarten is working quickly to remove the teacher abusing the children to smooth the accusations from media. van allen回复：造句紧跟社会热点话题很赞。
学员@阿诺：The producer is working quickly to make changes to the style of products to meet people's demands.
第6句：In the movie, Spacey played the late oil businessman J. Paul Getty.
在这部电影中，史派西饰演已故石油商人保罗盖蒂。
【讲解】late，这里是已故的意思。play动词 ，饰演。
学员@韩素辉：The late headmaster was a very nice man.
第7句：The film tells the story about the kidnapping of Getty's grandson, John Paul Getty III, in 1973.
这部电影讲述的是1973年盖蒂之孙——保罗盖蒂3世遭遇绑架的故事。
【讲解】kidnap，动词，绑架，kidnapping，动名词形式，注意双写p再加ing。
学员@韩素辉：The book tells the story about exploring a new land.
第8句：Getty refused to pay for his grandson's release.
盖蒂拒绝支付其孙子的赎金。
【讲解】pay for sth 支付什么的费用，为什么东西付钱。
【造句】他拒绝支付出租车费。
学员@阿诺：He refused to pay for taxi fee.
学员@阿诺：fee 是否可以省略。van allen回复：车船费一般用fare，改为 He refused to pay for the taxi fare.
学员@韩素辉：He refused to pay for the taxi fee.
第9句：Sony announced earlier that it was withdrawing the movie from the American Film Institute film festival in Los Angeles.
索尼先前宣布正在把这部电影从美国电影学会在洛杉矶举办的电影节中撤掉。
【讲解】announce，动词，宣布。film festival，名词，HoeFRTZn电影节。学员@韩素辉：withdraw为什么要用进行时？van allen答复：因为他们发表声明的同时，正在和电影节组委会沟通撤出这部电影。进行时体现的是“正在进行”。
学员@阿诺：withdrawing the movie是指拿掉这部电影吗？it指Sony？van allen答复：这是原计划在电影节上映的电影，现在从上映列表中拿掉。It是指Sony。
第10句：Several movie and television companies have cut ties with Spacey after the actor Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual assault.
史派西被演员安东尼-瑞普指控性侵之后，已有数家美国影视公司跟他断绝关系。
【讲解】cut ties with sb 与某人断绝关系。
【造句】用 cut ties 造句：He urged governments worldwide to cut diplomatic ties with the new regime. 他敦促世界各国政府断绝与新政权的外交关系。
学员@韩素辉：The father announced to cut ties with his son.
学员@韩素辉：Nobody can cut blood ties with their parents.
学员@阿诺：I broke ties with my best friend due to her dishonest.
第11句：The incident is reported to have taken place in 1986 when Rapp was 14 years old.
据报道，此事发生于1986年，瑞普当时14岁。
【讲解】take place，动词短语，发生。这里使用 have taken place 不是很有必要，可以直接用过去式。The incident took place in 1986.
第12句：In a statement, Spacey said he did not remember such an event but that he was sorry if it happened.
史派西在一份声明中表示，他并不记得有这样的事，但如果确实发生，则很抱歉。
【讲解】学员@韩素辉：but that 怎么理解？van allen答复：这里的 but 后的 that 是继续引导 said 后的从句。即 Spaced said that he was sorry if ...
第13句：Since then, more than 10 men have accused Spacey of sexual wrongdoing.
从那之后，又有超过10名男性指控史派西有违法性行为。
【讲解】since then，固定搭配，从那之后。accuse sb of (doing) sth 指控（指责）某人（做）某事。
【造句】用accuse sb of (doing) sth 造句
学员@安超：I accused the child of stealing my phone.
学员@关关：Since then, he has accused the men of killing his wife.
学员@Suk：Since then, they have accused him of having an affair with another woman. van allen回复：have an affair with sb 跟某人有一腿造句有趣。
学员@小伟：Since then, he has g//www.58yuanyou.comiven up smoking.
学员@XIXI：Since then, he faill in love with her. van allen回复：你的时态经常出错，以后养成使用动词时，考虑时态的习惯。改为：Since then, he has fallen in love with her.
学员@小伟：The woman has accuse of kidnapping a child. van allen回复：这句话有问题，可以改为：The woman has been accused of kidnapping a child.
第14句：The movie and television streaming company Netflix has since dismissed Spacey from its series House of Cards and withheld another Spacey film.
影视流媒体公司Netflix此后将史派西从其剧集『纸牌屋』中除名，并搁置了史派西的另一部电影。
【讲解】学员@XIXI：Since为什么放在这里？副词不是一般放在句尾吗？van allen回复：提问方式错误！你应该首先的意识是，原来since还可以这样用。或者问，since是否可以放后面。since，副词，此后。可以把 has since + done 当一个句式来学。dismiss sb from sth 把某人从什么中开除。
van allen提问：这里的withheld能理解吗？
学员@安超：下架。
学员Suk：扣留，保留。
van allen补充：前面理解基本正确，可以理解为这部Spacey电影被扣留不再发行。
【造句】用dismiss造句表达开除。
学员@Angelo：The boss dismiss her from his company. van allen：时态错误！建议用dismissed。
学员@关关：The company has dismissed him from this project for bribery. van allen微信群回复鼓励：关关造句满分！
He has been dismissed from his job for incompetence.
他因无法胜任工作而被解职。
第15句：On Wednesday, a former television news reporter, Heather Unruh, accused Spacey of sexually attacking her son last year.
周三，一位前电视新闻记者何泽尔-安璐，指控史派西去年性侵她的儿子。
【讲解】former，形容词，以前的。reporter，名词，记者。这里再次学习accuse sb of doing sth 结构，注意这里ing动词前多出了一个修改性副词sexually。
van allen：请大家朗读Heather Unruh这个人名，通过微信语音发到群里。
学员@平立：Heather后半部分读音跟Weather的后半部分一样。van allen回复：这两个单词发音对照不错。
van allen：学习@Angelo读Spacey音错误。
第16句：The incident reportedly took place on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. Unruh says a criminal investigation is taking place.
这起事件据报道发生在马萨诸塞南塔克特岛。安璐称，一项犯罪调查正在进行中。
【讲解】incident事件，一般是不愉快的事件。注意跟accident的区分，accident一般是指意外事件，比如车祸，坠机等。took place，take place 过去式，固定搭配，意思是发生。take place on/in/at someplace（事件）发生在某地。注意这里Island的发音，s是不发音的，不要读错。
【讲解】take place 还可以这样用，表达“进行”。
【造句】周杰伦演唱会正在杭州进行。
学员XIXI：Jay's concert is taking placing on Hangzhou.
学员@平立：on Hangzhou 是否应该用 in Hangzhou。van allen答复：take place on/in/at + someplace 可以灵活选用。例句中使用了 on Nantucket Isand，因为是在岛上，所以用了on，在城市里的话，一般还是用in。
第17句：However, Nantucket police are barred from confirming or denying the case because it involves sexual assault accusations.
然而，由于此案涉及性侵指控，南塔克特警方被禁止确认或否认此案。
【讲解】注意 police做主语，谓语动词用了 are，而不是 is。bar sb from doing sth 禁止某人做某事，本句中使用的 be barred from doing，这种被动表达更为常用。话说 bar 为什么会有禁止的意思呢？因为 bar 有门栓的意思，把什么栓起来，就有禁止出入的含义了。
【造句】父母禁止我用手机。
学员@安超：My parents bar me from using mobilephone. van allen：mobilephone前面少了个a。
学员@关关：My parent has barred me from using a mobilephone. 哦，应该用parents。
van allen补充：这个手机，英国人一般用mobilephone，美国人一般用cellphone，而中国人其实用的是handphone。
学员@edik_kz：我的德国、奥地利的朋友表示无法bar表示禁止的用法，那么这样表达是否有问题。van allen回复：bar 作动词表达禁止的含义很常用，只是注意bar常用被动语态，但这并不意味着bar sb from doing就是错的。（建议将这个用法跟你的非英语母语朋友也普及一下）
第18句：Unruh said, "I just want to see Kevin Spacey go to jail.
安璐称，“我就是想看到凯文-史派西入狱。”
【讲解】go to jail，入狱。see sb do sth 看到某人做什么。
【造句】用see造句。
我：I saw her take the money. 我看到她拿了这笔钱。
学员@Liya：The witness saw he fall into the river. fall之前是否要加to？van allen回复：可以不加。
第19句：She added that she wanted this "not just for my son, but for the many others.
她补充道，她想要这个结果“不仅是为了我的儿子，也为其他许多人。”
【讲解】学用 she added that ... 表达她补充道…… not just for A, but for B，不仅为了A，也为了B。
【造句】not just for ... but for
学员@吕培仁：She added that she wants to work, not just for her husband, but for her son attending a better school.
学员@平立：I want to make a lot of money, not just for me, but for my families. van allen开玩笑道：families用复数，可以理解为你在外面养小三，所以有好几个家庭。
学员@顾维：Jack Ma added that he created the shopping day on 11/Nov isn't just for his earning money, but for lots of other people getting cheaper things.
van allen回复：这个造句紧跟双11热点，非常不错。但句子有点小问题。可以改为：Jack Ma added th//www.58yuanyou.comat he created the shopping day of 11.11 isn't just for his business, but for lots of other people getting cheaper things.
学员@Liya：he created the shopping day 是否可以改为 the shopping day he created？van allen答复：可以。但这样 isn't for 前面的主语就不同了。
第20句：British news reports say police in London are investigating sexual assault claims from 2008. At least two other men have accused Spacey of sexually molesting them when they were teenagers.
英国新闻报道称，伦敦警方正在调查发生在2008年的性侵指控。至少还有另外2名男性指控史派西在他们年少时被他性侵。
【讲解】police在本句做警方讲，是集体名词，所以谓语动词用are，而不是is。这里用 from 2008 表达“发生在2008年的”很实用，可供以后写作套用。
【讲解】say除了可以翻译为说，还可以翻译为表示、称、……at least，固定短语，意思是“至少”。
【造句】使用molest造句：我经常被我家泰迪猥亵。
学员@Liya：I aways molested by my teddy dog.
学员@顾维：I am molested by my teddy often.
van allen: I am always molested by my teddy bear dog.
