弄清词义是读懂文章的基础。在GREdoubt和suspect这两个词。那么这两个词的意思一样么？首先，我们来看一下它们在小编不推荐使用的有道词典中的翻译：
在有道词典的中文翻译中，两者都可以表示“怀疑”。但doubt其实翻译为“质疑”更为妥帖。显然，在中文里，“怀疑”与“质疑”的概念是不同的。例如：
1. 广大网友们怀疑原计划于2019年下半年上映的中美合资“西游记”已经开拍。
2. 广大网友们质疑原计划于2019年下半年上映的中美合资“西游记”已经开拍。
在第一个例句中，广大网友们是相信西游记已经开拍这一说法的；而第二个例句中的广大网友是不相信西游记如约开拍的。
与此类似，我们先来看“doubt”与“suspect”在韦氏字典及柯林斯词典中解释：
doubt：

If you doubt whether something is true or possible, you believe that it is probably not true or possible（柯林斯）
e.g. He doubts everyone’s word. 他不相信任何人的话。
suspect:
regarded or deserving to be regarded with suspicion(韦氏)
You use suspect when you are stating something that you believe is probably true, in order to make it sound less strong THIDZwrPXor direct. (柯林斯)
e.g. He suspected that the woman staying in the flat above was using heroin. 他怀疑住在楼上公寓里的女人在吸毒。
下面我们来分析“doubt”和“suspect”这两个词在GRE阅读中起到的不同作用：
