很多小伙伴都知道，英语中有很多带颜色的短语，由于中西方文化背景的差异，我们并不能采取直译。
小洛今天教大家一些带有“Green”的短语：

green girl
“绿色的女孩”？显然不能这样理解，这里green的意思是young and lacking experience，年轻、缺乏经验。
“green girl”跟短语“green hand”表示的意思是一样的，是“生手，没有经验的人，黄毛丫头”意思。
Our office assistant is not only a green girl, but a troublemaker.
我们办公室助理不仅仅是个新手，也是个麻烦制造者。
Sorry, but I'm a green hand here.
抱歉，我是这儿的一名新手。

green tea bitch
这个短语可以按照字面意思翻译，也就是我们所说的“绿茶婊”，释义：
girls who pretend to be pure and innocent but in fact are manipulative[mnpjletv] and calculating.
【译】假装清纯，但实际很有心计，很会算计的女生。
例句：
That Harriet is a green tea bitch！
那个哈丽雅特是个绿茶婊！

green 绿色，light//www.58yuanyou.com光、轻的，但口语中的green light 可不能理解成“绿色的光”。
其实，它是“允许、许可 ”的意思，约等于我们口中的“给...开绿灯”。其释义是：
permission for a project, etc. to start or continue
【译】允许一个项目等开始或继续
例句：
The government has decided to give the green light to the plan.
政府已决定许可这个计划进行。
We'll never give the green light to gambling.
我们永远不会给赌博开绿灯。

green-eyed
从字面意思看意思是“眼睛绿了”，其实不然，它恰恰是我们中国人常说的“眼红”的意思，所以眼红大家可千万不要翻译成“red-e原由网yed”nxZWxFheA。这里的绿色green在英语中可以表示“嫉妒、眼红”的意思。
类似短语还有：green with envy，green as nxZWxFheAjealousy，green-eyed monster都是指“十分嫉妒”的意思。
例句：
I could be your green-eyed monster.
我是你善妒任性的妖精。

在“a green old age”原由网里，green是指青春时期。所以该短语的意思就是“老当益壮”。
例句：
Fromthe appearance, we can see that the old man is still in a green old age.
从外表看，我们能看得出这位老人仍然精神矍铄。

green是绿色，paper是纸，那合起来的green paper是什么意思呢？
其实它的意思是绿皮书（英国供公众讨论的政府提案文件），其英文注释是：
(in Britain) a document containing government proposals on a particular subject, intended for general discussion
【译】（在英国）包含政府对某一特定主题的建议的文件，供一般群众讨论

这可不是说某人大拇指绿了、中毒了，而是指某人有特殊的园艺才能，green fingers也有这种意思，指有搞园艺的才能。
例句：
If you want to be a successful gardener, of course you have to have green fingers.

He certainly has a green thumb. All his plants flourish.
