点心

点心这一词语由来已久，据记载，在唐代已有“点心”这一词。关于点心的由来，也有另外一则小故事。相传东晋时期一大将军，见到战士们日夜血战沙场，英勇杀敌，屡建战功，甚为感动，随即传令烘制民间喜爱的美味糕饼，派人送往前线，慰劳将士，以表“点点心意”。自此以后，“点心”的名字便传开了，并一直延用至今。
那么，英文中的Dim Sum又是从何而来的呢？
Dim Sum的出现相对较晚，1948年才从演变出来。Dim Sum在英文里面的词义是——
"Traditional Chinese food consist原由网ing of a variety of items (such as steamed or fried dumplings, pieces of cooked chicken, and rice balls) served in small portions" （传统中国小吃，通常有馅，种类众多，如蒸饺或炸饺、肉类、糯米球等）

"Dim sum" mean what it looks like. It's refinement and delicious. The word "Dim" is equyQUVxal the word "point" in English and the "sum" equal the "heart". From my point, alright, it's totally my imaginary, "Dim" mean that it's outlook is tiny that like a point and "sum" mean that it's taste is like a warmth which will influx into your heart when you eat it.

The characters 点 and 心 have a literal meanyQUVxing even when placed together: 'touching the heart'. As with many shrewdly coined Chinese phrases, a double entendre was intended, perhaps as a reminder to chefs of their duty to always create their best for their customers.
Dim Sum的汉字“点心”字面上的意思是“点着你的心”或“拨动你的心”。和其他巧妙组合起来的中文词语一样，“点心”也是一个双关语。或许也是要让厨师不要忘记他们的责任，要尽力为食客做出最美味的佳肴。
In Cantonese, 點心 does notmean "touch heart". The Cantonese character for "to touch原由网" is 掂 (which is sometimes confused with 点/點; it is also pronounced "dim" but with a different tone). In the context of a restaurant, 點 has a specific meaning: it means "to order (to place an order for food)". For example, 點菜 means to order a (big or main) dish. 心 in this context is short for 心意 (intention). Together, 點心means to order as one wishes (rather than getting a set meal), from whence comes its meaning of a small dish ordered la carte.
在粤语中，點心并不是字面上的点心。粤语中的“点”是“掂”（在英语中，"掂"的发音同样是Dim，不过音调不同）。在餐厅里，“點”有订购、叫某个菜的意思，例如"点菜"。而“心”在这个语境里是心意、意向的简称。合起来的Dim Sum（点心）就是随着自己的心意点菜，所以才对应早茶中单独点的小点（而不是一个套餐）。
但是，无论Dim Sum（点心）的含义如何变化，点心还是好吃的点心，是抵达舌尖和心尖的美味呢。
