and大家都知道，是一个很常用的并列连词，and的一些平常用法大家都知道用起来也是比较熟练的。
大家平常的用法是谁和谁，什么东西加上什么东西等等，但是and的这些用法你们知道吗？
一.and有这么一个用法，and前后的两部分表示同时发生的动作的，或者是同时存在的属性、特征等的时候，这时候它的意思就需要进行转换了，可以译为‘又...又...’， ‘既...又...’， ‘一方面...，一方面’，‘而’等。
这一类的是这样使用的，例如：
If a body is acted upon by a number of forces and still remains motionless, the body is said to be in equilibrium。
The process of oxidation 原由网in human body gives off heat slowly and regularly。
二.and还有一种用法，与上一个用法类似，但还是有很大的不同的，在and前后的两部分，有时在表示不能同时并存的事物或是动作的时候。这时候的and所表达的意思是‘或’。
这一类的使用，例如：
The whole equipment can be assembled and dismantled in a matter of hours。
三.在and的使用过程中还有这么一种情况，表因果关系时，and前面的部分表示原因或条件，后面的部分表示结果，在这里面的and相当于so that，可以把它翻译为‘因此’，‘所以’，‘从而’等等。
使用的时候像这样的，例如：
Sound is carried 原由网by air, and without air there can be no sound。
After firing the torpedoes the forward part would lose weight and the submarine would be out of balance。
四.说到因果关系，原因或条件不一定是要放在and的前面，他也可以放在and的原由网后面，这个时候的and就相当于because，意思的话也是一样的，翻译为‘因为’。
说到使用，就像这样的，例如：
Aluminium is used as the engineering material for planes and spaceships and it is both light and tough。
五.看了以上的集中用法你以为and已经定型为这一类的了吗？不！其实and还可以表示一种同位关系，翻译为‘即’，‘也是’。
用法的话是这样的，例如：
When correcting, pay close attention to the seventh and last paragraph in the translation。
We have come to the last and most important step of the experiment。
六.and在连接连个原型动词的时候，在这里要注意了，因为它在里面表示的可能不是并列关系，而是表示目的的关系。
像这样，例如：
Allow me to go and measure the pressure again。
He told me that he would come and help with our design when his work was over。
七.and还可以用在数字或数学概念里面，在不同的用法中，所表示的意思也不一样，其中最基本的概念就是表示‘相加’。
例如：
Six and seven is thirteen.
用在the product of...and...的搭配里面，所表达出来的意思是‘相乘’。
例如：
The area of a triangle is equal to half the product of the base and the perpendicular height。
在一个就是在分数里面，and在里面表达的意思也是相加，不过在翻译的时候，可以用我们平常的数学原由网语言习惯进行翻译，但是要注意half，quarter等的翻译。
例如：
On the ave//www.58yuanyou.comrage, oceans are two and one third miles deep。
最后在来看这个用法，在between+数字+and+数字的短语里面，and其实就相当于介词to，翻译为‘到’，或者时用波折号或是波浪号来表示也是可以的。
例如：
The lamp lights when the transistor temperature probe is connected to the rear panel and its temperature is between -20~60’C。
八.and在强调结构中的使用，也不仅仅是那么简单的，比如说：
用and连接同一个形容词的比较级的时候，表示的是发展和程度的变化。
例如：
The patient is getting worse and worse。
再一个就是用and连接同义词。
例如：
We completely and totally agree to the project put forward by them。
还有就是用and来重复整个句子，当然了，这个也是为了起到一个加强语气的作用。
例如：
We need to know and we need to know as much as possible in order to adapt to the sort of changes in all aspects of science that will fall upon us like a tidal wave。
